Richmond, Va. - On a snowy afternoon in Richmond, Va., the Saint Louis Billikens fell 62-36 to the Spiders at the Robins Center. The Billikens had won two straight games in the Robin Center but instead suffered their lowest scoring output of the season.
Willie Reed scored on the first possession of the game, and his dunk on the next SLU trip gave the Billikens a 4-2 lead. However, the Bills went nearly six minutes without a score as the Spiders built an 11-4 lead. Cody Ellis hit a jumper in the lane, but the Spiders built a 17-6 advantage. The Billikens were still down at 30-18, but UR closed the half with a 7-2 run to take a 37-20 lead at the break.
Richmond scored the first two baskets of the half and built a 21-point lead. After Willie Reed hit a short jumper, Mitchell was the only Billiken to dent the scoreboard as he tallied 12 consecutive points for SLU. The Billikens could not get any closer as they hurt themselves with 23 turnovers.
Mitchell hit 9-of-15 shots from the field and finished with 18 points. Willie Reed added 10, while Jon Smith hauled down a career-high 11 rebounds.
