DAYTON, Ohio - Saint Louis dropped an Atlantic 10 Conference game at Dayton by the score of 61-45 on Saturday.
Saint Louis dips to 9-9 overall and 1-4 in the A-10, while Dayton improves to 15-2 and 5-0 in league play.
Ash Yacoubou led the Billikens with 12 points. He shot 5-of-10 from the field and pulled down five rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded two steals.
Mike Crawford hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 10 points. Marcus Bartley buried two treys en route to six points. Reggie Agbeko tied Yacoubou for the team lead with five rebounds.
Dayton, which extended its winning streak to eight games, was led by Kendall Pollard's 20 points. Dyshawn Pierre had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Flyers jumped out to a 9-0 lead at the start and led 23-14 with a little more than five minutes remaining in the half, but the Billikens utilized the 3-pointer to stay in the game.
Bartley hit a pair of 3s down the stretch to go along with Crawford's sharp shooting in the first half, and the Billikens trailed by five, 27-22, at halftime.
SLU tied it up briefly in the second half after a Milik Yarbrough basket and a Davell Roby 3-pointer made it 27-all with 17:49 left.
However, the Flyers went on a 10-0 run to open up a 42-31 advantage, their largest lead of the game to that point.
SLU responded with a 6-1 run to make it a six-point game at 43-37 with 11 minutes left. But another Dayton scoring spurt, this time a 6-0 rally, put the Flyers up by 12 and they never relinquished the double-digit lead.
The Billikens return to action Friday, Jan. 23, when they host VCU at Chaifetz Arena. Tip time is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
