THE BASICS
Saint Louis outscored Tulsa 27-16 in the third quarter, and the Billikens held off a pesky Golden Hurricane team in the final stanza to earn an 82-73 victory Tuesday night at Chaifetz Arena. The win lifts SLU to 2-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season. Tulsa fell to 0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
--Both teams shot well over 60 percent in the first quarter. Tulsa jumped out to an 11-2 lead, only to see Saint Louis go on a 12-2 spurt to claim its only lead of the period, 14-13.
--Tulsa answered with a 7-0 run to go on top 20-14, and the Golden Hurricane led 23-18 at the end of the first quarter.
--The Billikens pulled even at 23, 25 and 27 in the second. A 10-3 flurry gave Tulsa a 37-30 advantage, but SLU scored the final five points of the quarter and trailed by just a bucket, 37-35, at intermission.
--Saint Louis took the lead for good, 39-37, on a basket by Denisha Womack. The Bills went on to stretch the margin to 10 points in the third quarter before settling for a 62-53 cushion after three.
--Tulsa made one last charge, using a 10-4 run to cut the SLU lead to 66-63 at the 5:41 mark of the fourth quarter. But the Billikens gradually pulled away, going in front 77-67 on a Jamesia Price 3-pointer with 2:23 remaining.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
--Sadie Stipanovich and Jackie Kemph carried the bulk of the scoring load in the first half, tossing in 14 and 10 points, respectively. In the second half, Denisha Womack poured in 14 points and Jamesia Price scored 12 to lead the charge.
--Stipanovich and Womack finished with 16 points apiece, followed by Price with 14 and Kemph with 13.
--Kemph registered a career-high 14 assists for her second career double-double, and Price added seven assists.
--Womack hauled in a team-high six rebounds.
--Jenny Vliet chipped in eight points and three assists, while Maddison Gits netted seven points.
--Saint Louis outscored Tulsa 17-7 at the free throw line (17-of-22 to 7-of-14).
--Last year's contest vs. Tulsa was SLU's only game of the season in which both teams shot at least 50 percent from the field. They did it again this year, with the Golden Hurricane shooting 50.8 percent and the Billikens connecting on 50 percent.
--The Billikens had 25 assists on 29 field goals.
--SLU committed just 13 turnovers while forcing 19 Tulsa miscues.
