THE BASICS

Dayton came out hot in the second half and defeated Saint Louis 73-37 Wednesday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball action at UD Arena.

The loss dips SLU to 8-12 overall and 3-5 in the league. Dayton improves to 17-3 and 7-1 in the conference.

SLU's 37 points were a season low. Reggie Agbeko, Miles Reynolds and Davell Roby led the Billikens in scoring with six points apiece.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

-- Roby's six points came on 3-of-3 shooting, Agbeko was 3-of-6 from the field and Reynolds was 2-of-6.

--Mike Crawford scored five points and was one off his season high with five rebounds.

-- Yacoubou led the Billikens with six rebounds.

-- Jermaine Bishop posted a team-high two assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-- The game featured four ties and one lead change.

-- Neither team could find an offensive rhythm in the early going.

-- A Reynolds basket at the 8:43 mark of the first half tied the score at 10-10.

-- Dayton would use a 13-2 run to pull ahead 23-15 late in the first half.

-- The Flyers led 26-17 at the break. The first half saw both teams' leading scorers (Ash Yacboubou and Charles Cooke) held scoreless.

-- The second half was all Dayton. The Flyers had two 8-0 runs and a 9-0 run to take command.

-- Dayton went ahead by 30 midway through the second stanza and never looked back, coasting to the 36-point win.

DAYTON LEADERS

-- Kendall Pollard sparked the Flyers' second-half run and finished with 19 points and eight rebounds … he scored four baskets in row early in the half as Dayton took command … Dyshawn Pierre finished with 12 points, while Cooke scored 10 points in the second half to finish with 10 for the game … the Flyers out-rebounded the Billikens 50-29.

The Billikens return home to face Duquesne at Chaifetz Arena on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m., and the game will be televised on the American Sports Network. Channel designations will be announced soon.
