THE BASICS

Saint Louis' Mike Crawford nailed a go-ahead 3-pointer with 24 seconds remaining and iced the game with a pair of late free throws as the Billikens upended George Washington 65-62 Wednesday night in Atlantic 10 Conference action at Chaifetz Arena.

SLU improves to 6-8 overall and 1-1 in the A-10, while George Washington falls to 12-3 and 1-1 in the league.

The Billikens, who trailed by as much as 12 in the second half, ended the game on runs of 10-0 (final 2:41) and 12-1 (final 3:56) to post the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-- The game featured four ties and six lead changes.

-- George Washington led by eight with less than four minutes to go. Three Billikens connected at the charity stripe – Reggie Agbeko (2-2), Ash Yacoubou (1-2) and Davell Roby (2-2) – and Crawford had a lay-in and SLU was down by two with minute remaining.

-- On the ensuing GW possession, Reggie Agbeko had a block and the Billiken defense forced a shot-clock violation, giving SLU the ball. However, Saint Louis turned the ball over on the in-bounds pass.

-- SLU quickly fouled, but GW missed both free throws to give the Billikens the ball with 33 seconds left.

-- On the go-ahead basket, Roby found Crawford in the left corner, and Crawford drained the trey.

-- On GW's next possession, the Colonials were whistled for a traveling call with 12 seconds remaining. GW fouled SLU immediately, and Crawford hit two free throws with 10 seconds left in regulation.

-- Patricio Garino's potential game-tying 3-pointer in the final seconds was off the mark, and SLU escaped with the victory.

-- The Billikens forced George Washington into a season-high 18 turnovers. SLU's 10 steals were a season high.

-- Saint Louis was 12-of-14 from the free-throw line, compared to a 12-of-22 performance by the Colonials.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

-- Crawford finished with 20 points, tying his career high. He was 7-of-9 from the field, 3-of-4 from the arc and 3-of-4 from the stripe.

-- Ash Yacoubou scored 12 points and grabbed a team-best six rebounds. Davell Roby scored seven points, while Reggie Agbeko had six points and four boards.
