THE BASICS

Saint Louis dropped an 85-52 decision at VCU Saturday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball action at the Siegel Center.

The Billikens, who dropped their fifth straight, fall to 8-16 overall and 3-9 in A-10 play. VCU improves to 18-7 overall and 10-2 in the league.

Jermaine Bishop led the Billikens with 16 points thanks in part to four 3-pointers. Aaron Hines chipped in 10 points for the Billikens.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

-- Bishop finished with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 from the arc.

-- Hines drained his lone 3-pointer and was 4-of-10 from the field.  

-- Reggie Agbeko finished with seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.

-- Ash Yacoubou had six points and five rebounds for the Billikens.

-- Matt Neufeld finished with four points in 23 minutes, the most playing time he has seen during the A-10 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-- The Billikens never led.

-- SLU kept it close in the first half before VCU closed the half on a 16-2 run to take command.

-- VCU hit 11 3-pointers and shot 51.7 percent from the field. SLU, meanwhile, shot 35.1 percent from the floor.

-- The Billikens turned the ball over 21 times, which VCU turned in to 20 points.

VCU LEADERS

-- Korey Billbury posted a game-high 20 points and led the Rams with four steals.

-- Justin Tillman had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

-- Jonathan Williams (12) Melvin Johnson (11) also scored in double digits for the Rams.

UP NEXT

-- The Billikens travel to Fairfax, Va., to face George Mason on Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT).
