THE BASICS
Mike Crawford finished one point shy of his career high with 21 points and Jermaine Bishop chipped in 17 as the Saint Louis Billikens defeated Fordham 76-68 Saturday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball action at Chaifetz Arena.
It was the second win in a row for the Billikens, who improve to 10-16 overall and 5-9 in the A-10. Fordham dips to 13-12 overall and 4-10 in the league.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
-- The Billikens shot 52.3 percent from the floor, the second time in as many games they shot better than 50 percent.
-- Crawford was a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor, which included a 3-of-3 mark from 3-point range. He also shot 6-of-7 from the charity stripe and led the Billikens with six rebounds.
-- Crawford also posted a career-high four steals.
-- Aaron Hines dished out a career-high and team season-high-tying eight assists.
-- Bishop was 5-of-10 from the field and drained three 3-pointers en route to 17 points.
-- Ash Yacoubou scored nine points, while Miles Reynolds chipped in seven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-- The game featured 13 lead changes, all occurring in the first half.
-- A Matt Neufeld dunk at the 5:07 mark of the first half sparked an 8-0 Billiken run, which gave SLU a lead it would not relinquish.
-- Fordham scored the last five points on the first half to trim the Saint Louis lead to two, 30-28, at halftime.
-- A Crawford trey at the 7:20 mark of the second half gave SLU a 14-point lead, its largest advantage of the night.
-- Fordham chipped away at its deficit and pulled to within four with less than three minutes remaining, but Crawford drained another trey to keep SLU ahead.
FORDHAM LEADERS
-- Three Rams scored in double figures, led by Ryan Rhoomes' 17 points. He also pulled down 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
