Saint Louis came out on the short end of a defensive battle Tuesday night, falling 52-49 in overtime against Dayton in Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball action at Chaifetz Arena.
The Billikens, who were going for their third win in a row, drop to 10-17 overall and 5-10 in league play. Dayton snapped its two-game skid and improves to 22-5 and 12-3 in the league.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-- The Billikens lost despite leading for more than 34 minutes. The game featured three ties and three lead changes.

-- The Billikens climbed out to a 7-0 lead in what was a low-scoring first half. The teams combined for just 33 points in the first session as SLU held a 19-14 lead at the break.
-- Saint Louis received eight consecutive points, including two 3-pointers, from Yarbrough as SLU went on top 33-24 with 12:16 remaining in regulation.
-- Yarbrough drained another triple with 7:22 remaining as SLU led 42-33. However, that would be SLU's final field goal until Yacoubou's layin at the final horn in overtime.
-- Dayton chipped away at the lead and tied it at 46-46 with less than one minute remaining.
-- Yarbrough's jumper late in regulation was off the mark, and Dyshawn Pierre's attempt at the horn missed to send the game into overtime tied 46-46.
-- Kyle Davis' 3-pointer a minute and a half into overtime would be the difference.
-- Crawford hit 1-of-2 from the free-throw line, but that is all the scoring the Billikens would muster in the extra session until Yacoubou's last second layin.
