THE BASICS

--Jackie Kemph and Jenny Vliet combined for 33 points to lead Saint Louis to a 55-52 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over Dayton Wednesday night at UD Arena.

--The Billikens improved to 22-6 overall and 12-3 in the A-10 with their fourth consecutive victory, and third straight by three or fewer points. They are tied with George Washington for second place, one game behind Duquesne, with one game remaining.

--In addition to padding their school records for total wins and conference wins, the Billikens set a school mark with their 10th road victory of the season.

--Saint Louis defeated Dayton at UD Arena for the first time in A-10 play and for the first time overall since the 2001-02 season.

--The Billikens swept the season series with the Flyers for the first time in program history.

--Dayton slipped to 13-13, 6-9 with its fourth consecutive loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

--After Saint Louis took a 4-0 lead on its first two possessions, Dayton used a 3-pointer and a bucket for its only lead of the game, 5-4.

--Jackie Kemph scored on three straight possessions and Jenny Vliet buried the first of three first-half 3-pointers in a 9-2 run that put the Billikens on top 13-7.

--Dayton narrowed the margin to three, 17-14, at the end of the first quarter and scored on its initial second-quarter possession to make it a one-point game.

--The Flyers had a chance to take the lead but committed an offensive foul. The Billikens took advantage with a basket by Kemph and another Vliet triple to lead 22-16.

--Dayton used a pair of 3-pointers to draw to within a field goal at 24-22, and the Flyers had three chances to tie or take the lead. They failed to do so, and Vliet connected from deep for a 27-22 SLU advantage.

--A Jordyn Frantz basket increased the lead to 29-22 before a late three-point play by Dayton made it 29-25 Billikens at intermission.

--The Bills stretched the lead to six in the third quarter, but Dayton pulled to within a point, 36-35. However, SLU outscored the Flyers 7-3 the rest of the quarter and led 43-38 heading to the final 10 minutes.

--Dayton cut the margin to two points on two occasions early in the final period, but treys by Vliet and Aaliyah Covington gave Saint Louis some breathing room, 51-44.

--UD scored the next six points to make it 51-50 before an Olivia Jakubicek free throw doubled the lead. Two Vliet free throws, following a foul on a baseline out-of-bounds play with just one second on the shot clock, made it 54-50.

--The Flyers scored on their next possession, and the had an open 3-pointer to take the lead but missed. The teams traded empty possessions before Kemph made a free throw for a 55-52 SLU edge.

--Dayton's 3-pointer to tie at the buzzer was just off target.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

--The Billikens held Dayton to 29 percent shooting overall and 18 percent (4-of-22) from 3-point range.

--The Bills forced 20 Dayton turnovers and had just 13 themselves.

--Jackie Kemph (7-of-13 FG) scored a game-high 17 points and had a team-high four assists.

--Jenny Vliet tied her season high with four 3-pointers (4-of-8) and finished with 16 points, one shy of her career high.

--Denisha Womack and Sadie Stipanovich collected eight and six rebounds, respectively.

--Jamesia Price tallied a game-high four steals and added four rebounds and three assists.

--Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova, 11 points, 16 rebounds, nine blocks; Saicha Grant-Allen, 13 points; JaVonna Layfield, nine rebounds (eight offensive); Maddy Dennis, eight rebounds; Jenna Burdette, five assists.

--The Billikens complete the regular season at home Saturday, Feb. 27, against Rhode Island. Game time is 2 p.m. Following the game, Billiken seniors Jamesia Price and Denisha Womack will be honored.
