Billikens Are No. 2 Seed for A-10 Championship

ST. LOUIS – After claiming a share of the first conference championship in program history, Saint Louis is the No. 2 seed for the 2016 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Basketball Championship, scheduled for Wednesday through Sunday, March 2-6, at Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia.

As one of the top four seeds, Saint Louis (23-6, 13-3 A-10) has a double bye to the quarterfinals. The Billikens begin tournament play Friday, March 4, at 3:30 p.m. (CT) against either No. 7 Saint Joseph's (14-14, 8-8) or No. 10 Rhode Island (11-17, 5-11). The game will be televised by American Sports Network – check www.SLUBillikens.com later this week for a list of ASN affiliates – and streamed live free of charge on the A-10 Network at www.atlantic10.com.

SLU defeated both of its potential quarterfinals opponents during the regular season. The Bills topped Saint Joseph's 77-66 in Philadelphia and beat Rhode Island 77-60 at Chaifetz Arena.

Duquesne (25-4, 13-3) is the No. 3 seed and would be Saint Louis' opponent in the semifinals Saturday (12:30 p.m. CT) should both teams advance. The Dukes will play either No. 6 Fordham, No. 11 Massachusetts or No. 14 La Salle in the quarterfinals. Massachusetts and La Salle meet in Wednesday's first round, with the winner advancing to play Fordham in Thursday's second round.
