Wednesday, February 3, 2016 | 11 a.m.

Chaifetz Arena | St. Louis, Missouri

THE BASICS

--Saint Louis outscored Richmond 15-2 over the last four minutes of the second quarter to seize control, and the Billikens went on to register a record-tying 73-48 victory over the Spiders Wednesday at Chaifetz Arena.

--The crowd of 4,011 included approximately 3,000 local elementary and middle school students taking part in the sixth annual “Billiken Books and Basketball” field trip.

--SLU improved to 18-5 overall and 8-2 in the Atlantic 10, tying school records for total wins and conference wins.

--Richmond, which suffered a fourth consecutive defeat, fell to 9-13, 2-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED

--Neither team led by more than four points in the first quarter, which ended with Saint Louis in front 14-12.

--Richmond scored the first five points of the second quarter to grab a 17-14 edge.

--A 7-0 SLU run consisting of a Jordyn Frantz 3-pointer, a jumper by Maddison Gits and another Frantz bucket put the Billikens on top 21-17.

--The Spiders scored on their next two possessions to tie it at 21, but it was all Billikens after that. Saint Louis held Richmond without a field goal the rest of the half during a 15-2 flurry – including six points from Jamesia Price and four from Olivia Jakubicek – and it was 36-23 Billikens at the break.

--After building the margin to 16 points twice in the third quarter, the Bills settled for a 50-37 lead heading into the final stanza.

--Jenny Vliet buried a 3-pointer on SLU's initial fourth-quarter possession to spark a 15-0 spurt that put the game well out of reach.

--Jackie Kemph followed Vliet's trey with back-to-back three-point plays to make it a 59-37 cushion. The run also included four Denisha Womack free throws and a Price layup.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

--Saint Louis tied the 1978-79 and 1979-80 Billiken teams for the school record of 18 total wins, and the 2002-03 Bills for the school mark of eight conference victories (Conference USA).

--The Billikens shot a season-high 53.8 percent (28-of-52) from the field while limiting Richmond to 30.2 percent.

--SLU topped its own A-10 season best by going 11-of-11 from the free throw line. The Bills were 10-of-10 at Tulane. Ironically, Richmond was 10-of-10 from the stripe.

--Saint Louis was 6-of-14 (42.9 percent) from 3-point distance.

--The Billikens recorded their largest rebounding margin of the season, doubling the Spiders 40-20 on the glass.

--SLU tallied large advantages in points in the paint (34-8) and bench points (26-3).

--Jamesia Price turned in a perfect shooting performance for a team-high-tying 14-point output (12 in the first half). Price was 5-of-5 from the field overall, 1-of-1 from deep and 3-of-3 from the foul line. She added five rebounds and three assists.

--Jackie Kemph also tossed in 14 points, all in the second half. Kemph shot 5-of-8 overall, sank her only 3-point attempt and was 3-of-3 from the free throw line. She also had a game-high eight assists.

--Sadie Stipanovich (5-of-10 FG) turned in 10 points and a game-high seven rebounds.

--Olivia Jakubicek scored a season-high nine points on a 4-of-5 shooting effort that included a triple.

--Jordyn Frantz chipped in eight points, hitting all three of her shots including a pair of 3-pointers.
