--Alex Nickel hit her eighth home run of the season in the opener, won by the Billikens 3-1.

--Saint Louis upped its records to 19-23 overall and 9-7 in the A-10. Saint Joseph's fell to 16-21-1, 4-9-1.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED

--Saint Louis took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Brittany Durant swiped home, part of a double steal.

--The Billikens made it 3-0 in the fifth on Nickel's two-out, two-run blast to right field.

--Saint Joseph's scored an unearned run in the seventh and had the tying runs aboard, but Brianna Lore worked out of the jam to preserve her 10th win of the season.

--Lore allowed just four hits, struck out two and did not walk a batter. She also collected two hits.

--Mackenzie Peter, Elizabeth Everingham and Allie Macfarlane had two hits apiece. One of Peter's hits was a double.

--Buckles also doubled.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED

--That's how it stayed until the eighth when Buckles, following a two-out error, came through with the game-winning hit.

GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES

--Kneib allowed eight hits, but just three came in the final six innings. She fanned three and walked three en route to her fifth victory of the season.
