THE BASICS

• Five Saint Louis players scored in double figures, and the Billikens surpassed or tied team season highs in 10 categories in a 101-57 victory over Lipscomb Sunday afternoon at Chaifetz Arena.

• Saint Louis snapped a two-game skid and improved to 5-7. Lipscomb, a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference from Nashville, Tennessee, fell to 2-10.

• The Billikens produced season highs in points, field goals (36), field goal percentage (.581), free throw percentage (.783), rebounds (46), rebound margin (+26) and assists (29).

• SLU equaled its season bests for 3-pointers (11), free throws made (18) and blocks (five).

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Jordyn Frantz buried a career-high five 3-pointers and Maddison Gits scored six points on SLU's first 12 possessions as Saint Louis built a 27-14 lead after one quarter.

• Gits made a layup at the 6:03 mark of the second quarter to push the margin past 20 for the first time, 40-19.

• A 13-3 run over the last 3:38 powered the Billikens to a 61-34 halftime lead. Saint Louis registered its highest-scoring half and highest-scoring quarter (34 points) of the season.

• The Billikens led 79-45 at the end of three quarters. The final score was their largest margin of the game.

 

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

Jenny Vliet topped the SLU scoring chart with 18 points, just one point shy of her career high. Vliet was 6-of-9 from the field overall and 3-of-5 from 3-point distance. She also grabbed seven rebounds.

• Frantz finished with a season-high 17 points. She was 5-of-8 from the arc and added four assists and a game-high three steals.

• Gits was 8-of-8 from the field in a 16-point performance, and she collected a game-high nine rebounds. The eight field goals equaled her career high.

Kendra Wilken contributed a career-high 14 points (5-of-6 FG, 4-of-5 FT) and a career-high-tying six rebounds. Four of Wilken's rebounds were on the offensive glass, also a career high.

Paige Rakers tossed in 10 points, matched her season high of five rebounds and gathered a career-high four offensive boards.

Jackie Kemph tied her career high of 14 assists. Kemph scored seven points, leaving her 33 points away from breaking Sadie Stipanovich's SLU career record.

Shea Shipman recorded career highs of eight points and three rebounds.

Aaliyah Covington pulled down a season-high seven rebounds.

Loren Cagle, 28 points (7-of-9 3-pointers), four rebounds; Lauren Rau, seven points, five rebounds, five assists.

 

UP NEXT

The Billikens conclude the nonconference portion of their schedule Tuesday, Dec. 19, when Tulsa visits Chaifetz Arena for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
