Emily Wastell scored in the 22nd minute for Saint Louis, but Appalachian State scored goals in the second and third quarters and registered a 2-1 victory over the Billikens Sunday in a nonconference field hockey match in Boone, North Carolina.Â
The Billikens fall to 0-13 with the loss, while Appalachian State improves to 9-5.
Wastell opened the scoring with her third goal of the year, putting home a pass from Megan Rice to put the Billikens on top 1-0.
The Mountaineers responded with a goal late in the second quarter, and the teams went into halftime with the score knotted at 1-1. App State grabbed the lead early in the third quarter when it scored off a penalty corner, and the Mountaineers hung on for the 2-1 win.
The Billikens conclude their three-game road trip on Tuesday, Oct. 22, when they face Longwood.
