THE BASICS
• Saint Louis (14-8, 8-1) swept George Washington (12-11, 5-4) on Sunday for their eighth straight victory. The win solidified a perfect October for the Billikens, who went 7-0 with four sweeps in the month.
• With match assist No. 21 in the third set, Kennedy Cordia earned a spot in the top five all-time for the Billikens with 2,349, surpassing Lauren Boissevain.
FIRST SET
It was back-and-forth early with six tie scores through 7-7, but the Billikens pulled ahead to 11-8 and 14-9. Behind Sien Gallop's six kills, Saint Louis took set one by the score of 25-17.
SECOND SET
SLU jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead, but the Colonials answered and tied the game at 12. It was close until the final point, but Juliana Phillips and Sara Daniels combined for a block to seel the set for the Billikens, 25-23.
THIRD SET
George Washington held early leads, including at 5-3, but the Billikens used a 7-0 run to go up 15-8. The Colonials came back to within one at 15-14 and then tied the game at 17-17. SLU held off GW for a 25-23 set win and a 3-0 match victory.
NOTABLE
• Cordia recorded 32 assists on the afternoon, along with eight digs, two service aces and one kill.
• Maya Taylor led the Billikens with 14 kills.
• Gallop collected 11 kills, nine digs and one service ace.
• Cayce Chaykowsky tallied a team-leading 10 digs for SLU, adding in five assists.
• Senior Lauren Mershon had nine kills in the match, along with two total blocks.
