ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis head coach
Travis Ford announced today that wing Markhi Strickland has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and play basketball for the Billikens. He begins his four years of eligibility in the 2020-21 season.
"We are very excited about Markhi joining our Team Blue family," Ford said. "He has an incredibly bright future. Markhi comes from a great basketball background, is extremely versatile and athletic, and has the ability to play multiple positions. He can shoot the ball from the outside extremely well, and he is a very gifted one-on-one player. Markhi fits into our system well and I look forward to coaching him."
"I'm excited to officially be part of the Team Blue family," Strickland said. "This is just the beginning of something great. I'd like to thank Coach Ford and the staff for giving me the opportunity to play at the highest level and to represent Team Blue."
Strickland (first name pronounced Mark-eye) graduated from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and is attending prep school this year at Victory Rock Prep in Bradenton. He also played on the Nike EYBL circuit last summer with E1T1.
Strickland's father, Mark, played in more than 280 games in the NBA over eight seasons with the Pacers, Heat, Nuggets, Nets, Hawks and Mavericks.
Strickland is one of four newcomers to the Billikens in 2020-21, joining Marten Linssen, Andre Lorentsson and Francis Okoro.
