ST. LOUIS – No. 12 Seton Hall received a game-high 26 points from All-America candidate Myles Powell in an 83-66 victory over Saint Louis Sunday at a packed Chaifetz Arena.
Â
It was the first loss of the season for the Billikens, who fall to 3-1. Seton Hall, ranked 12
th in the Associated Press poll, improves to 3-1.
Â
Saint Louis was led by
Hasahn French, who registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. He also posted five blocked shots to give him 135 for his career, which ties the school record shared by Ian Vouyoukas.
Â
Jordan Goodwin scored 13 points and posted two steals.
Gibson Jimerson was 3-of-6 from distance and scored a career-best 12 points.
Â
Jimmy Bell Jr. scored a career-high eight points.
Javonte Perkins pumped in seven points and grabbed five rebounds.
Â
A near-capacity crowd of 9,611 were on hand at Chaifetz Arena for the Billikens' first home game against a ranked foe since 2015.
Â
Powell's 26 points came on 6-of-18 shooting from the floor, 4-of-11 from 3-point range and 10-of-12 from the line. Sandro Mamukelashvili added 17 points for the Pirates, who led wire-to-wire.
Â
Seton Hall jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. The Billikens managed a pair of mini-runs in the game, but Seton Hall had an answer more times than not and SLU wasn't able to claw back into it.
Â
The Billikens return to action on Wednesday night, when they host High Point at Chaifetz Arena at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on FOX Sports Midwest.
