Harbison, Flowers Lead Billikens Past Indiana State

Saint Louis opens Atlantic 10 Conference play at home against Davidson Jan. 4.

Saint Louis knocked off Indiana State 55-53 Monday night to finish 2019 and its non-conference schedule with an 8-5 record.

Ciaja Harbison tied a career-high with 22 points for the second consecutive game and Brooke Flowers collected her 10th career double-double, 17 points and 11 rebounds, to lead the Billikens.

Indiana State jumped ahead 10-2, but SLU answered with a 12-2 run of their own to take a two point lead. The Sycamores hit a three near the end of the first quarter and posted a 15-14 advantage.

Saint Louis held ISU to four points in the second period, marking an opponent season low for SLU. The Billikens took a 26-19 lead into the locker room.

The Sycamores came out firing in the third, outscoring SLU 21-11 in the quarter and taking a 40-37 edge in the game.

Following an ISU bucket, the Billikens made seven consecutive free throws (two from Flowers, four from Harbison and one by Kendra Wilken) to take a 44-42 lead.

Later in the game, with two seconds on the shot clock, Harbison inbounded the ball from the baseline to Flowers behind the arc. The 6'5 sophomore connected on her second career 3-pointer as time expired, giving the Billikens a 50-45 advantage.

Flowers finished the night with 17 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. The 3-pointer marked the second in her career (two attempts). With five on the night, Flowers now sits fifth all-time in SLU history with 97 career blocked shots.

ISU connected on a three as the buzzer sounded, giving SLU the 55-53 victory.

Harbison recorded 22 points for the third time in her career, along with three assists, two steals and one rebound.

Wilken tallied eight points and nine rebounds for the Billikens.
