Billikens Win Second in a Row

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis received double-doubles from Hasahn French and Tramaine Isabell Jr. as the Billikens rolled to a 62-49 victory over La Salle on Saturday.

It was the second Atlantic 10 Conference win in a row for Saint Louis, which improves to 17-9 overall and 8-5 in league play. La Salle dips to 8-16 and 6-6 in the league.

Isabell scored a season-high 23 points and gathered 10 rebounds for the first double-double of his SLU career. Last year at Drexel, Isabell recorded six double-doubles. He was 8-of-13 from the field and 6-of-9 from the charity stripe. Isabell also recorded two steals.

French turned in 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the year.

Javon Bess scored 14 points, while Jordan Goodwin added 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Bess was especially strong on the defensive end and held La Salle leading scorer, Pookie Powell, to just one field goal all night.

SLU overcame a tough night from the foul line where it shot just 48.1 percent (13-of-27). The Billikens shot 44 percent from the field.

The Billikens led by six at the break, 26-20. The defensive effort, which head coach Travis Ford said after the game was the Bills' best of the year, kept La Salle at bay for most of the game. SLU withstood a late 7-0 run by the Explorers and built a double-digit advantage late and never looked back.

Saint Louis returns to action next Saturday when it travels to Dayton for a big Atlantic 10 Conference matchup at UD Arena.
