Goodwin Leads Bills Past George Mason

ST. LOUIS – Jordan Goodwin scored a season-high 24 points to lift Saint Louis to an 81-71 victory over George Mason on Saturday at Chaifetz Arena.

SLU moves to 18-11 overall and 9-7 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. George Mason dips to 16-13 and 10-6 in the league.

Goodwin's 24 points came on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. He also posted team highs of eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Tramaine Isabell Jr. and Javon Bess recorded 17 points apiece. All eight Billikens who played recorded at least one field goal, and six different Billikens accounted for SLU's eight 3-pointers.

The Billikens shot 45.5 percent from the field as a team and posted season highs in assists (20-tied) and blocked shots (nine).

Saint Louis led throughout. SLU scored the first 10 points of the game and forced a George mason timeout leading 10-0. The Billikens grew their lead to as many as 18 points in the first half and took a 16-point lead (40-24) into the break.

SLU maintained its lead throughout the second half but it wasn't easy. George Mason used a 10-0 run to pull within four points of the lead late. While free throws have plagued the Billikens in this game and throughout the season, they ended making 10 in a row in the final two minutes to seal the win.

SLU is back in action Wednesday night when it hosts Duquesne at Chaifetz Arena. Game time is 7 p.m., and it will be televised on FOX Sports Midwest. The Billikens will honor their seniors after the game.
