Harbison Powers Billikens to Road Victory

SLU earned its first conference win of the season, improving to 9-6 (1-1).

Sophomore Ciaja Harbison scored a career-high 25 points and Myriama Smith Traore recorded her first career double-double in Saint Louis' 77-61 victory at La Salle Wednesday night.

Harbison added five assists, two steals and one rebound, while Smith Traore collected 11 points and 13 rebounds.

SLU earned its first conference win of the season, improving to 9-6 (1-1). La Salle dropped to 6-9 (0-2).

Freshman Rachel Kent connected on four from long range, finishing with 15 points, five rebounds and two blocks.

Myia Clark scored 15 points, five rebounds and three steals. She converted all five of her free throw attempts in the game, putting her streak at 35 consecutive made. The sophomore became the first Billiken since Jackie Kemph in the 2015-16 season to hit 34 in a row.

As a team, the Billikens blocked a season-high 10 La Salle shots, including four from Brooke Flowers.

10 points from Clark and two 3-pointers from Kent helped the Billikens take a 22-15 first quarter lead.

Smith Traore sparked a 9-0 run for Saint Louis in the second, putting them up 35-19. She finished with nine points in the period, and the Billikens held a 44-29 edge at the half.

SLU was outscored 20-18 in the third but still held a 64-47 lead.

Seven Harbison free throws, including the last five Billiken points, put the game away and gave Saint Louis the 77-61 win.

The Billikens return home to Chaifetz Arena for the next two, beginning with VCU and the 13th annual Pink Out Sunday, Jan 12. Tip is set for 3 p.m. CT.
