Pitching Leads Billikens to Fourth Straight

GAME RESULT

Saint Louis 2, Ohio 1
Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020
Lexington, S.C.

THE BASICS

• Saint Louis (4-1) needed just two runs to get past Ohio (3-3) Saturday afternoon, thanks, in part, to Billiken pitching surrendering just four hits.
• Charlie Sheehan earned his first win of the season, striking out four without allowing a hit or run in 3.0 innings of relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Corrigan Bartlett drove in the game's first run in the top of the third, with a sacrifice fly scoring Zach Frieling.
• Jake Garella's RBI double later in the frame brought Colten Schild across the plate and gave the Billikens a 2-0 lead.
• Ohio's lone tally in the game came unearned on an error in the bottom of the fourth.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

• Bartlett (1-3) and Garella (1-4) drove in the only Billiken runs.
• Cam Redding went 1-for-2 with two walks.
• Spencer Bloom and Schild both recorded one hit.
• Sheehan struck out four in 3.0 scoreless relief innings, giving up no hits with three walks.
• Mark Finkelnburg tossed the first 4.0 innings for the Billikens, giving up one unearned run on two hits and four walks, while striking out six.
• Marius Balandis picked up the save, throwing 2.0 innings, striking out two and allowing no runs on two hits.
