THE BASICS

• Saint Louis pushed across eight runs in the second inning of its 13-2 victory over Ohio, completing the 3-game sweep over the Bobcats.
• The win was the Billikens fifth in a row, as they improved to 5-1, while Ohio moved to 3-4.
• Freshman Matt Boyer (2-0) picked up his second win of the season, striking out five in 6.0 innings of two-run ball.
• 11 Billikens recorded hits on the afternoon, led by Jake Garella, Zach Frieling and Matt Happ with two each.


HOW IT HAPPENED

• A bases loaded hit by pitch, followed by two walks, scored the first three runs of the game for the Billikens. Garella singled in two to make it 5-0. A second HBP in the inning, followed by a walk and a Frieling single brought the Billikens total to eight at the end of the second frame.
• The Bobcats were able to push across a run in the fourth and fifth innings, cutting SLU's lead to 8-2.
• Happ slapped an RBI single to make it 9-2 Billikens in the seventh.
• Cole Smith and Drew Buhr picked up RBI base knocks in the top of the eighth inning.
• SLU tacked on another two runs off the bats of Sam Polk and Cam Redding in the ninth.


BILLIKEN NOTABLES

• Boyer's final line: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 SO.
• Reid Hendrickson, Ryan Surin and Grant Fremion each threw a scoreless inning out of the pen, including Fremion striking out the side in the ninth.
• Frieling finished the afternoon 2-for-2 with two RBIs and one run scored.
• Garella went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
• Redding (1-5), Khyle Radcliffe (0-4), and Colin Bergmann (1-4) each scored two runs in the game.

• The Billikens head to reigning National Champion Vanderbilt Wednesday afternoon for a mid-week contest. The game will be streamed on SECN+, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
