Hasahn French turned in his 12th double-double of the season to lead Saint Louis to a 72-49 victory over St. Bonaventure Saturday night at Chaifetz Arena in the 2019-20 regular-season finale.
The Billikens (23-8, 12-6), who have won five straight and six of seven, locked up fourth place in the Atlantic 10 Conference as well as a double-bye in next week's A-10 Championship in Brooklyn, New York. SLU's first game in the tournament will be Friday, March 13. The complete tournament bracket will be released later Saturday night.
French registered game highs of 16 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks. He was 7-of-10 from the floor. French also became the 33rd Billiken in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
Javonte Perkins scored 15 points,
Jordan Goodwin tossed in 14 and
Tay Weaver netted 13. Goodwin added nine rebounds and five assists.
Yuri Collins collected a game-high seven assists.
Jaren English (15 points) and Dominick Welch (11 points, eight rebounds) led St. Bonaventure (19-12, 11-7). The Bonnies were held to their lowest point total and lowest field goal percentage (25.5 percent, 13-of-51) of the season.
The Billikens out-rebounded the Bonnies 43-32 and earned a 30-8 advantage in points in the paint.
Saint Louis scored the game's first points, a Goodwin 3-pointer, and never trailed. The Billikens gained their first double-digit lead, 14-4, with a 7-0 spurt that featured five points from Weaver.
A Perkins triple at the 10:42 mark made it 20-10 SLU, and the margin remained in double digits the rest of the way. The first-half lead swelled to 20 points, 38-18, before the Billikens settled for a 38-21 cushion at intermission.
Saint Louis' largest lead was 25 on two occasions in the second half.
