THE BASICS
• Saint Louis concluded its participation in the Spring Games by defeating Niagara 7-2 Sunday morning.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Billikens grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Kat Lane reached on a bunt single and came all the way around to score on a throwing error.
• Niagara went on top 2-1 in the second inning.
• Saint Louis pulled even in the bottom of the second on the first of two Sadie Wise sacrifice flies.
• Kayla Swiderski gave the Bills a 4-2 advantage with a two-run double in the third.
• SLU padded the lead with a three-run fifth. RBI singles by Kylie Hess and Lane were sandwiched around Wise's second sac fly.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Kaylea Chappelle chalked up the win in the circle. Chappelle pitched the final five innings and allowed no runs, four hits and no walks while striking out four.
• Maria Connell was 3-for-4.
• Hess was 2-for-3, her first multi-hit game as a Billiken.
• Kelsey Etling, Aubrey Hacke and Kristi Stevenson had a single apiece, and Stevenson walked twice.
 
UP NEXT
The Billikens play at Southeast Missouri State Wednesday, March 11, at 4 p.m. before hosting the second annual Billiken Spring Tournament March 12-15. SLU welcomes Purdue Fort Wayne, Omaha, Illinois-Chicago and Lipscomb to the Billiken Sports Center.
