Harbison Scores 1,000th Career Point in Setback

THE BASICS
• Ciaja Harbison scored 16 points, including her 1,000th career point, but it wasn't enough as Saint Louis fell 72-63 to Fordham in an Atlantic 10 Conference game Sunday afternoon at Chaifetz Arena.
• Rachel Kent tallied 13 points and nine rebounds, and Myriama Smith Traore contributed 12 points and seven rebounds for the Billikens (2-1, 0-1 A-10), who were in action for the first time since Dec. 6.
• Fordham improved to 7-3, 4-2.
 
FIRST QUARTER
• Saint Louis held Fordham scoreless until the 5:55 mark.
• Five different Billikens scored in the quarter, which ended with SLU on top 13-5.
 
SECOND QUARTER
• Fordham cut the margin in half and trailed 15-11 with 8:17 left.
• Kent buried a 3-pointer and added a layup, Smith Traore scored a bucket, and Julia Martinez hit a free throw in an 8-0 run that put the Billikens in front 23-11 with 5:56 remaining.
• The Rams outscored the Bills 19-4 the rest of the way and led 30-27 at intermission.
 
THIRD QUARTER
• The Fordham lead remained between four and seven points for most of the period until Kaitlyn Downey's 3-pointer made it 47-37 Rams with 2:52 left.
• The Billikens sliced their deficit in half on Kent's triple and Harbison's jumper in the final minute, and it was 47-42 Fordham at the buzzer.
 
FOURTH QUARTER
• Brooke Flowers' three-point play with 9:00 to play made it 50-45 Fordham.
• However, the Rams used a 10-2 spurt to gain their largest lead, 60-47, with 5:23 left.
• The Billikens drew to within six points twice in the final two minutes, but Fordham secured the victory at the foul line.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Harbison became the 22nd Saint Louis women's basketball player to score 1,000 career points.
• Martinez had five rebounds and a team-high four assists.
• Marisa Warren, who transferred to SLU from DePaul, scored seven points in her Billiken debut.
• The Billikens committed only seven turnovers.
