THE BASICS
• Rachel Kent's 13 points led three Saint Louis players in double figures, but Massachusetts posted a 78-62 victory over the Billikens in an Atlantic 10 Conference game Friday afternoon at Chaifetz Arena.
• The Billikens slipped to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the A-10.
• The Minutewomen improved to 10-2, 6-1.
 
FIRST QUARTER
• Except for a 10-10 tie with just under a minute to play, Saint Louis led throughout the period.
• The Billikens scored the game's first five points and held a five-point edge on two other occasions.
• A Brooke Flowers jumper with 26 seconds left gave SLU a 12-10 lead at the buzzer.
 
SECOND QUARTER
• UMass trimmed the lead to a point, 16-15, with 6:51 remaining.
• Kent answered with a jumper and a 3-pointer on successive possessions to push the margin to six, 21-15, at the 6:17 mark.
• The Billikens extended the lead to seven points four times, the last a 31-24 advantage with 2:53 left.
• UMass concluded the quarter on an 8-0 run to carry a 32-31 lead to the locker room.
 
THIRD QUARTER
• After UMass increased its lead to five, Saint Louis used an 8-2 spurt to go back in front, 41-40, at the 5:40 mark. Myia Clark hit a 3-pointer and two free throws, and Julia Martinez recorded a three-point play during the run.
• UMass regained the lead for good on its next possession, beginning a 15-6 quarter-ending surge that put the Minutewomen on top 55-47.
 
FOURTH QUARTER
• UMass scored on its initial possession to earn its first double-digit lead.
• Saint Louis drew no closer than nine points the rest of the way.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Saint Louis head coach Lisa Stone coached her 1,000th career game. Now in her 35th season as a collegiate head coach, Stone has 646 career wins.
• Kent added nine rebounds to her 13-point scoring total.
• Martinez turned in a solid all-around game, scoring 10 points, grabbing six rebounds and dishing out a game-high and career-high-tying six assists.
• Clark scored 10 points.
• Myriama Smith Traore contributed nine points and nine rebounds.
