THE BASICS
•
Brooke Flowers turned in a record-tying rebounding performance, and a strong third-quarter effort propelled Saint Louis to a 63-52 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over Massachusetts Sunday afternoon at Chaifetz Arena.
• Flowers pulled down 21 rebounds, matching the SLU record set by
Julie Hacker-Buehne (vs. McKendree, Jan. 20, 1988) and tied by
Denisha Womack (vs. UMass, March 2, 2014).
• After trailing 29-25 at intermission, Saint Louis outscored UMass 18-6 in the third quarter and continued the surge in the fourth, building a 16-point lead before settling for the final margin.
• The Billikens improved to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Minutewomen fell to 10-3, 6-2.

FIRST QUARTER
• There were five lead changes in the opening frame.
• Saint Louis owned an 11-10 lead with 2:33 left, but a pair of 3-pointers put UMass on top 16-11 at the end of the quarter.

SECOND QUARTER
• UMass maintained the upper hand throughout the second quarter.
• The Minutewomen led 29-21 at the 1:07 mark, but four
Peyton Kennedy free throws inside the final minute narrowed the UMass advantage to 29-25 at the break.

THIRD QUARTER
•
Ciaja Harbison's jumper and
Rachel Kent's 3-pointer put the Billikens in front 30-29.
• UMass regained the lead briefly, but a triple by Flowers put SLU back on top, 33-31, with 6:45 left.
• The 3-pointer sparked a 13-4 run that gave the Billikens a 43-35 edge at the buzzer.

FOURTH QUARTER
• The Minutewomen tallied the first bucket of the final stanza, but the Billikens answered with a 10-0 spurt to gain full command, 53-37, at the 5:36 mark.
• Treys by Kent and Harbison began the run, and buckets by
Myriama Smith Traore and Kent concluded it.
• UMass pulled to within nine points with 55 seconds to play, but Harbison sank six consecutive free throws to secure the win.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• SLU held UMass to 26.2 percent (17-of-65) from the field.
• The Billikens earned a 26-16 advantage in points in the paint.
• The 21-rebound (six on the offensive glass) effort by Flowers was the second 20-rebound performance of her career. She grabbed 20 caroms vs. Dayton two seasons ago. Also, the 21 rebounds are the most by an A-10 player this season.
• Flowers added 11 points and a game-high five blocks.
• Harbison netted a game-high 18 points, including 15 in the second half, and led the Billikens with five assists.
• Kent scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half and collected six rebounds.
• Smith Traore (5-of-5 FG) tallied eight of her 10 points after intermission and added three assists.
