THE BASICS
• A trio of Billikens combined for 54 points, including a career high from Myriama Smith Traore, and Saint Louis defeated La Salle 72-65 Friday night in an Atlantic 10 Conference game in Philadelphia, Pa.Â
• Rachel Kent's three-point play with a bucket and the foul halfway through the second quarter gave the Billikens a lead that they'd never give back.
• Saint Louis outrebounded La Salle 44-28, and eight different Billikens grabbed at least two boards on the night.
• SLU improved to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in conference play. La Salle dropped to 9-9, 5-6.
FIRST QUARTER
• Kent kept the Billikens close in the first quarter, knocking down her second three-pointer early in the game to give SLU a 12-11 lead.
• La Salle scored seven of the following nine points before a Ciaja Harbison layup made it 19-16 in favor of the Explorers at the end of the period.
SECOND QUARTER
• Both teams came out firing to begin the second, but Smith's Traore's sixth point in the first three minutes tied the game at 25 apiece.
• Kent netted the next six points for the Billikens, and then a Harbison jumper pushed the advantage to 33-27.
• La Salle recorded the final four points of the half, bringing the score to 39-35.
THIRD QUARTER
• Harbison put the Billikens in control in the third quarter, scoring 10 of her game-high 21 points. Five-straight points from her gave the Billikens a 58-51 lead with two minutes left.
• Smith Traore added a basket for SLU, helping the score to 60-53 at the end of the third.
FOURTH QUARTER
• La Salle came back to knot things up at 61, but Brooke Flowers and Smith Traore combined for the next six points to put SLU back on top.
• Flowers hit an open layup with 10 seconds left to put Saint Louis up by five, and then moments later, Smith Traore iced the game with two free throws.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Harbison recorded 21 points, tying a season high with nine field goals, along with four assists, two blocks and two rebounds. It's her second-career game with two blocks, with the previous one coming against Dayton on Tuesday.
• Smith Traore surpassed her career best, scoring 17 points and adding seven rebounds.
• Kent connected on three 3-pointers, all in the first half, on her way to 16 points, three rebounds and three assists.
• Flowers grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, while also scoring eight points.
• Freshman Natalie McNeal went 3-for-3 from the field, netting six points, three rebounds and two assists.
