GAME DETAILS
• The Saint Louis pitching staff of Jake Little, Grant Fremion and Charlie Sheehan allowed just five hits on the day, but Missouri escaped a blustery Billiken Sports Center with a 2-1 victory over the Billikens on Wednesday.
• The Billikens moved to 2-10 on the season, while Missouri improved to 4-9.
SCORING PLAYS
• The Tigers opened the scoring in the top of the first on a two-out, RBI single by Chad McDaniel.
• The Billikens scored their first and only run of the day in the bottom half of the fifth. With two away, Matt Happ reached after being hit by a pitch. Matt Turino then drove him home with a double to left center.
• Missouri pushed across the eventual winning run in the seventh. After Brandt Belk doubled, he advanced to third on a failed pickoff attempt. Beck would eventually trot home on a wild pitch to give Mizzou a 2-1 lead, one it would not relinquish.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Fremion was effective in relief, giving up just two hits in three innings of work while recording five strikeouts.
• Little pitched three innings and yielded just two hits in his first collegiate start.
• Sheehan was tagged with the loss despite pitching effectively. He allowed one run (unearned) and just one hit in three innings of work.
• Turino and Kyle Fitzgerald had two hits apiece.
• Missouri's pitchers, Lukas Veinbergs and Ian Lohse, combined to strike out 15 Billikens.
