GAME DETAILS
• Saint Louis junior shortstop Matt Happ drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to vault the Billikens a 3-2 win over the visiting Western Illinois Leathernecks on Friday afternoon.
• The Billikens improve to 3-10 with the win. Western Illinois falls to 2-8.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Happ and Kyle Fitzgerald finished with two hits apiece.
• Four different Billikens drove in the four runs. In addition to Happ, it was Matt Turino, Fitzgerald and Matt Dunham posting RBIs.
• Ryan Surin was credited with the win after pitching two-thirds of an inning in the top of the ninth.
• Starter Matt Boyer went five innings and allowed two runs on six hits. Colin Townsend tossed 3.1 innings, allowing just one run on two hits while walking none.
SCORING PLAYS
• Western Illinois jumped on top 2-0 with runs in the first and second. The Bills got out of a bases-loaded jam in the first to prevent any further damage.
• Turnio drove in the Billikens' first run of the day when he smacked a single up the middle to plate Happ in the third.
• Dunham tied the game in the fifth when he doubled home Happ, making it 2-all.
• The Bills snagged their first lead of the game in the sixth when Fitzgerald singled home Colten Schild, who led off the inning the single.
• WIU led off the eighth with a solo homer to tie the score at 3-3.
• In the ninth, Fitzgerald walked, then advanced to second on a balk. He came around to score on Happ's walk-off base hit to right.
