GAME DETAILS
• Saint Louis clubbed 13 hits, while allowing just one hit to Kansas, on its way to an 8-1 victory over the Jayhawks Friday night at Billiken Sports Center.
• The Billikens improved to 2-7 on the season, while Kansas dropped to 3-5.
• Cam Redding went 4-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored.
• Matt Boyer picked up his first win over the season, tossing 6.0 innings of one-hit ball. He struck out seven Jayhawks and did not allow a run.
SCORING PLAYS
• Saint Louis got the scoring going early, going up 2-0 in the bottom of the first with a pair of RBI singles from Ryan Hernandez and George Sutherland.
• The Billikens added two more in the second, on back-to-back RBI singles from Cam Redding and Jake Garella.
• Garella drove in his second RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, scoring Matt Turino.
• Kansas found the scoring column in its half of the seventh, on a sacrifice fly, cutting the Billiken advantage to 5-1.
• SLU answered right back by scoring three in its end of the frame. Redding doubled in Turino and Matt Happ, and then Redding later scored on a Jayhawk error.
OTHER BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• The three Billikens at the top of the lineup (Turino, Redding, Garella) combined to go 9-13, with three doubles, five RBIs and six runs scored.
• Colten Schild reached base three times, connecting on two hits and walking once.
• Colin Townsend threw 1.2 innings of relief without allowing a hit.
