THE BASICS
• Aubrey Hacke went the distance in the circle and allowed just two runs to lead Saint Louis to a 5-2 victory over Northern Kentucky Sunday on the final day of Southern Illinois' Saluki Invitational.
• Southern Illinois downed the Billikens 6-2 in the finale.
 
GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Louis scored twice in the top of the first inning on a throwing error and Kayla Swiderski's RBI single.
• Sadie Wise doubled in a run with two outs in the second to make it 3-0.
• Another two-out run scored in the third on Kristi Stevenson's RBI single.
• Northern Kentucky plated its first run in the fourth, but SLU answered right away in the fifth when Stevenson drove in another run on a groundout.
• NKU scored once in the seventh and had the bases loaded, but Hacke escaped with no further damage.
 
GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Hacke walked only one and struck out two.
• Wise was 3-for-4.
• Swiderski and Kat Lane had two hits apiece, and Lane stole two bases.
• Chloe Wendling doubled, while Alyssa Chavez and Maria Connell collected a single apiece.
 
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
• Southern Illinois led 6-0 after scoring a run in the first, three in the third and two in the fourth.
• The Billikens broke up a no-hitter in the seventh and went on to deny the Salukis a shutout. With one out, Chavez and Swiderski singled, and Connell followed with an RBI double. A second run scored on Stevenson's popout.
 
GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Kaiya Luneckas pitched two innings of scoreless relief, striking out three while allowing just one hit and one walk.
 
UP NEXT
Saint Louis hosts the Billiken Spring Tournament Friday-Sunday, March 12-14. Western Illinois and Loyola Chicago are the opponents.
