THE BASICS

Kelsey Etling drove in five runs, including a sixth-inning grand slam, and
Sadie Wise added three RBI to lead Saint Louis to a 12-11 win over Dayton and a split of Saturday's Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader at the Billiken Sports Center.
•Dayton won the opener 3-2.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Dayton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
•Saint Louis went on top 2-1 with single runs in the third and fifth. Wise drove in both with two-out hits, producing a double in the third and a single in the fifth.
•Dayton scored the decisive runs on a two-run home run in the seventh.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•
Gabbie Kowalik had a triple and a single.
•
Kat Lane,
Kristi Stevenson and
Allie Herron had a single apiece.
•
Chloe Wendling went the distance in the circle and allowed only two earned runs while striking out four.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Dayton struck for four runs in the first.
•SLU answered with two runs in its half of the opening frame on Wise's single and Etling's groundout.
•The Billikens went in front 5-4 with a three-run second, scoring on a wild pitch, Kowalik's infield single and Wise's sacrifice fly.
•Dayton plated four runs in the third for an 8-5 advantage.
•Saint Louis scored a run on an error in the third.
•Kowalik's solo homer in the fourth narrowed the Dayton lead to 8-7.
•The Flyers increased the margin to three, 10-7, by scoring twice in the sixth.
•Etling's grand slam over the wall in left-center made it 11-10 Billikens in the bottom of the sixth.
•Dayton tied it in the seventh, but SLU claimed the victory in the bottom half when Wise knocked in the winning run on a fielder's choice.

•Wise collected a triple and two singles.
