THE BASICS
•Chloe Wendling flirted with what would have been her second no-hitter in four days as Saint Louis edged SIUE 3-2 Tuesday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.
•Wendling, who fired a perfect game vs. Dayton on Saturday, tossed 6 1/3 innings of no-hit ball before SIUE scored two unearned runs and had the bases loaded with two outs in the seventh. The junior right-hander recorded the final out on a soft liner to third base.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis took a 1-0 lead on Kristi Stevenson's RBI single in the fourth inning.
•The Billikens made it 3-0 with two tallies in the fifth. Alyssa Chavez drove in the first run with a two-out single, and Gabbie Kowalik scored the second on a double steal.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Wendling allowed three hits, struck out five and walked only one in picking up her third win of the season.
•Stevenson and Kat Lane had two hits apiece.
•Kelsey Etling (double) and Kowalik (single) picked up a hit apiece.
