GAME DETAILS
• Cole Smith reached base four times, including hitting his third home run of the season, and Saint Louis defeated SIUE 10-7 Tuesday night at Billiken Sports Center.
• The Billikens improved to 16-28 on the season, and SIUE moved to 22-21.
SCORING
• Following a leadoff triple in the bottom of the first, Colten Schild later came around to score on a wild pitch, and Kyle Fitzgerald picked up an RBI single, giving SLU an early 2-0 lead.
• SIUE recorded four runs in the top of the third inning, including a two-RBI triple from Raul Elguezbal.
• The Billikens scored three runs in the fourth inning on a Ryan Hernandez two-RBI single and an RBI groundout from Tyler Fogarty.
• Connor Kiffer's solo home run tied things back up in the fifth.
• Cole Smith's three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth gave the Billikens an 8-5 lead.
• A two-RBI Cam Redding single in the sixth extended SLU's lead to five.
• Avery Owusu-Asiedu drove in two for SIUE with a single in the top of the seventh.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Smith finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored and one walk.
• Marius Balandis notched his first save of the season, throwing 3.0 innings, allowing one run and striking out six. He struck out five of the final six batters he faced.
• Fitzgerald connected on two hits, going 2-for-5 with one RBI.
• Redding and Hernandez each drove in two.
