The Saint Louis University Department of Athletics celebrated its graduating Billiken student-athletes Monday, May 17, in a Zoom meeting featuring University administrators, coaches, staff, and the graduates and their families.
 
Director of Athletics Chris May, Deputy Director of Athletics Dr. Janet Oberle, Athletics Chaplain Fr. Michael Rozier and Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Michael Ross addressed the graduates. The student-athletes were presented by their head coaches.
 
"You are a talented group that has succeeded at high levels, and we congratulate you for that," May said. "You've all come together as Billikens, and you're graduates now who have become part of a very distinguished group called Billiken Alumni. That is the ultimate success story, and all of you have done it with such grace and class.
 
"You focused on our objectives of educating, competing and building community," May said. "You maximized the education component; you competed for and won championships; and you learned how to serve and grow our community. It wasn't always easy, but you showed the way. Thank you for being great Billikens."
 
Also during the celebration, the Department of Athletics presented its annual senior awards. Sadie Wise of the softball team was selected Outstanding Female Senior Student-Athlete, while Alex Oleson of the track and field team was named Outstanding Male Senior Student-Athlete. Others capturing awards were Clare LaBlance of the dance team, Outstanding Senior Spirit Group member; T.J. Halliburton of the men's swimming and diving team, Inspirational Award; and Elli Brunts of the women's soccer team, Director's Gratitude Award.
