MATCH DETAILS
• Saint Louis took a 2-1 lead in the match after three sets, but Kansas City came back with wins in frames four and five to defeat the Billikens 3-2 Saturday afternoon in the Mizzou Invitational at Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo.
• The Billikens fell to 1-2 on the season, while Kansas City moved to 2-1.
• SLU kept things close at the start of set one, including back-to-back kills from Maya Taylor to pull within two at 7-5 and from Delaney Rice at 15-13, but UMKC pulled away and took the first frame 25-16.
• Taylor led the Billikens to a set two win with nine of her 20 kills in the match. After a tie score at 10-10, SLU went on a 6-1 run to pull ahead 16-11. The Billikens finished off UMKC and took the second frame 25-20.
• Kate Aupperle dished out 13 assists in set three, leading five Billikens to multiple kills in the game. With UMKC leading 19-18, Lily Welti posted kills on three of the next five points and led SLU to 25-21 set victory.
• A tight fourth set saw 18 tie scores and nine lead changes. Following a 20-20 tie, Kansas City used a 3-0 run to take a three-point advantage and later won the game 25-22.
• UMKC tallied the first five points of the fifth set and later went ahead 10-3. Back-to-back kills from Jillian Mattingly and Welti brought SLU within four at 13-9, but UMKC was able to edge the Billikens 15-10.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Taylor posted a match-high 20 kills, along with nine digs.
• Sara Daniels hit for a .733 hitting percentage, with 11 kills.
• Mattingly had 14 kills on a .393 hitting percentage and tallied three service aces.
• Aupperle collected a match-best 56 assists.
• Emily Imo recorded 19 digs.
