Balanced Attack Leads Billikens Past Braves

MATCH DETAILS
• Four Billikens recorded double-digit kills, including a career-high 15 from both Delaney Rice and Emily Henken, and Saint Louis defeated Bradley in five sets in the final match of the CEFCU Classic in Peoria, Ill.
• Saint Louis finished its nonconference slate with a 7-6 record, while Bradley moved to 4-7 on the season.
• Bradley was in control of the first set early, but following a 14-14 tie, SLU took a lead that it wouldn't relinquish. Blocks on back-to-back plays for Sara Daniels capped a 4-0 run for the Billikens and put them ahead 21-16. SLU hit for a .379 percentage in the frame, while holding the Braves to a .067 percentage.
• After trailing 21-13 in the second set, the Billikens mounted a big comeback to tie things at 22-22, but Bradley was able to pull out the victory in the game 25-23.
• An 8-2 spurt by the Billikens put them ahead 23-15 in the third frame. Bradley answered with a 4-0 run of its own, but SLU snagged the last two points to win the game 25-19.
• A back-and-forth fourth set ended with an 8-2 Bradley run, tying the match at two games each.
• SLU jumped out to a 7-3 advantage to begin the final frame, but Bradley used a 7-1 run to hold a 9-8 edge. Following tie scores at 11, 12 and 13, Henken solidified the Billiken victory with back-to-back kills on the final two points.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Rice tallied 15 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while also adding four blocks and four digs.
• Henken added eight digs, four blocks and two service aces to her 15 kills.
• Jillian Mattingly hit for a match-best .417 percentage, posting 12 kills, along with six digs and five blocks.
• Maya Taylor was the fourth Billiken with double digits in the kill column, collecting 11.
• Abby Lynn recorded her sixth double-double on the season, with 25 assists and 11 digs.
• Carlie Rodgers had a team-best 21 digs in the match, along with six assists and one service ace.
• Giovanna Charles tallied a season-high nine kills.
