Billikens Victorious in Both Saturday Matches

THE BASICS
• Saint Louis won both of its matches in four sets Saturday in the Billiken Invitational at Chaifetz Pavilion. The Billikens defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the afternoon and then took down Murray State in the night match.
• SLU improved the 3-3 on the year.
• Sophomores Jillian Mattingly and Carlie Rodgers were named to the All-Tournament team.
• Mattingly led the Billikens with a .361 hitting percentage on the weekend, recording 35 kills (2.92 per set), along with 18 blocks (1.50 per set), four service aces and eight digs.
• Rodgers led SLU with 62 digs (5.17 per set) over the three matches. She added 12 assists and seven service aces.
• The Billikens took down Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3-1 in the first match, behind Mattingly's match- and career-best 17 kills (.464 percentage).
• After 21 tie scores and nine lead changes in the first set of the second match, the reminder of the contest saw a total of just four tie scores with no lead changes. The Billikens took a 2-0 lead in the match and solidified the victory with a 25-20 set-four win.
• Arkansas State (3-0) won the Billiken Invitational, followed by Saint Louis (2-1), Murray State (1-2) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-3).

MATCH ONE NOTABLES
• Mattingly tied her career best with three service aces in the contest, in addition to her 17 kills, five blocks and four digs.
• Cece Fitz tallied career highs with eight kills and four blocks. Her .316 hitting percentage was second on the team.
• Abby Lynn recorded her first double-double with the Billikens, collecting 30 assists and 20 digs.
• Along with her 13 kills, Taylor tied a career best with four service aces.
• Lily Welti had nine kills and five digs.

MATCH TWO NOTABLES
• Taylor led the Billikens' attack with 19 kills, along with seven digs and one service ace.
• Emily Henken tallied 14 kills, 11 digs, two service aces and two assists.
• Kate Aupperle posted 28 assists, while Lynn had 21.
• Rodgers had 24 digs and four assists.
• Freshman Mak Hill recorded eight kills and five blocks.
• Mattingly collected a match-best seven blocks, along with eight kills and one service ace.
