Flowers Ties Rebounding Record, Billikens Topple Air Force

ESTERO, Fla. — Brooke Flowers grabbed the 1,000th rebound of her career, tying Arlene Lampe for the program record, and helped Saint Louis to a 77-58 victory over Air Force Sunday morning at Hertz Arena in Estero, Fla.

Flowers is now just one of five active players in the NCAA with 1,000 rebounds in her career.

"I had absolutely no idea that was my 1,000th rebound," Flowers said. "I was pretty surprised today."

Following Flowers' 1,000th board, the Billikens called a timeout and the team celebrated with its senior center.

"A big moment for Brooke, for our program and for what we're all trying to do together," head coach Rebecca Tillett said.

"It was so exciting," Kennedy Calhoun said. "She's worked so hard this season and all of her years, and I'm so glad I'm able to play with her for her last season."

The Billikens picked up their second win of the season, moving to 2-7, while Air Force dipped to 3-4.

"Over the course of the season, you can't get too high and you can't get too low," Tillett said. "You have to get better everyday. They're a positive group."

SLU held Air Force to just 31 percent shooting from the field and out rebounded the Falcons 51-33.

Flowers finished with the 30th double-double of her career, registering 15 points and 13 rebounds. With five blocks in the contest, Flowers also surpassed 300 blocked shots for her career.

Calhoun tallied a season-best 14 points, along with three assists and two rebounds.

"Every game we've taken a step forward in our progression," Calhoun said. "We just really wanted to put all the pieces together. I think we did that, and I think that's why we came away with the win today."

Kyla McMakin recorded a game-high 19 points and added five rebounds.

Camree Clegg set a career mark with eight assists, while also scoring five points and grabbing five rebounds, in just 16 minutes of action.

The Billikens wrap up a four-game road swing Wednesday night at Missouri. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. in Columbia, Mo.
