Billiken Comeback Falls Short at La Salle

GAME DETAILS
• Saint Louis cut a 22-point first half deficit to just one in the fourth quarter, but La Salle escaped with a 73-65 victory Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic 10 Conference game at Tom Gola Arena in Philadelphia, Pa.
• The Billikens moved to 4-8 in league play and 8-16 overall, while La Salle went to to 14-11, 7-6.
• Kayla Spruill connected on three of La Salle's seven 3-pointers in the first quarter and led the Explorers to a 25-11 advantage at the end of one.
• Four points from Julia Martinez capped a 6-0 Billiken run with 3:56 remaining in the second period, brining the score to 37-21 in favor of La Salle. The Explorers took a 40-21 lead into the break.
• Ciaja Harbison and Brooke Flowers combined for 14 of the first 16 points in the second half and brought the Billikens back within seven with 4:34 left in the third quarter. Two free throws by Flowers with five seconds remaining in the frame cut SLU's deficit to just four at 49-45.
• A Peyton Kennedy trey pulled SLU to within one at 51-50 with 7:47 left in regulation, but La Salle responded with back-to-back three-pointers to go back up by seven and came away with the 73-65 victory.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Harbison collected a game-best 21 points in her first game back after missing the last three. She also added three rebounds and three steals.
• Martinez picked up her first career double-double with 11 rebounds and a career-best 12 assists. She came just three points shy of a triple-double, finishing with seven.
• Kennedy tallied 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. She was in double digits in the scoring column for the third straight game.
