THE BASICS
•Solo home runs by Gabbie Kowalik and Natalie Sullivan supported the 1-hit pitching of Chloe Wendling in Saint Louis' 2-1 victory over Massachusetts Sunday in the rubber game of a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series.
•The Billikens improved to 11-14 overall and 3-2 in the A-10, while UMass fell to 8-17, 3-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Kowalik's home run, her team-leading fifth of the season, came with one out in the third inning.
•UMass tallied its lone run in the fifth.
•The Billikens answered in the bottom of the fifth with Sullivan's leadoff home run, the first round-tripper of her collegiate career.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Wendling collected her seventh straight victory and improved to 9-5, matching her career-high win total of a year ago. After UMass tied the game in the fifth inning with one out, the senior right-hander retired eight of the last nine batters she faced.
•Cami Newbanks doubled, and Kendall Johnson singled.
