THE BASICS
•Cami Newbanks had two hits and an RBI to lead Saint Louis in the Billikens' 3-2 loss to Illinois Tuesday night at the Billiken Sports Center.
•The Billikens slipped to 11-15, while Illinois improved to 15-12.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Billikens took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Sadie Wise delivered a sacrifice fly, and Newbanks drove in the second run with a two-out single.
•Illinois tallied its three runs in the top of the fifth.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Newbanks recorded her first career triple to go with her RBI single. She also caught two runners stealing in the third inning, helping keep Illinois off the scoreboard despite recording four hits in the inning.
•Kristi Stevenson, Gabbie Kowalik and Kendall Johnson had a single apiece.
•Taylor Hochman pitched two scoreless relief innings to keep the Billikens close.
 
UP NEXT
The Billikens host Rhode Island in an Atlantic 10 Conference three-game series this weekend. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game begin at noon.
