THE BASICS
•
Jocelyn Abbott was 4-for-5 with four RBI, and pitchers
Chloe Wendling and
Taylor Hochman combined to limit Rhode Island to nine hits in Saint Louis' 5-1, 7-1 Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader sweep Saturday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.
•The Billikens improved to 13-15 overall and 5-2 in the A-10. Rhode Island slipped to 5-21, 1-9.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Sadie Wise gave SLU an early advantage with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.
•
Natalie Sullivan's two-out RBI triple in the second made it 2-0.
•The Billikens doubled the margin again by scoring twice in the fifth on Abbott's two-out, two-run triple.
•Rhode Island plated its only run in the sixth.
•Wise collected her second RBI of the game with a two-out double in the home half of the sixth.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Wendling picked up her career-best 10th victory. She struck out seven, issued no walks and allowed six hits.
•Abbott and Sullivan added a single apiece to join Wise with two hits.
•
Kristi Stevenson and
Jane Kaniecki doubled, and
Cami Newbanks added a single to the nine-hit attack.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Abbott doubled and eventually swiped home on a double steal in the third to put Saint Louis on top 1-0.
•After Rhode Island tallied the tying run in the fourth, SLU responded with five runs in its half of the frame.
Allie Herron doubled in the first run, followed by Kaniecki's sacrifice fly. Abbott swatted her first home run of the season, a two-run shot, and Stevenson finished the scoring with a two-out RBI double.
•The Bills added an insurance marker in the sixth on Stevenson's two-out RBI single.

GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Hochman tossed a 3-hitter to record her third win of the season. She fanned five.
•Herron registered a second double to join Abbott and Stevenson in the two-hit column.
•Wise and Sullivan joined the hit parade with a double and a single, respectively.
