THE BASICS
•Jane Kaniecki drove in two runs and Taylor Hochman went the distance in the circle to lead Saint Louis to a 4-2 win over Dayton and a split of Friday's Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader at the Billiken Sports Center.
•Dayton won the opener 1-0 in eight innings.
•The Billikens are 17-19 overall and 9-4 in the A-10. Dayton is 13-20, 8-8.
 
GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Dayton scored the game's only run with two outs in the top of the eighth inning.
•SLU put two runners aboard in the bottom of the eighth but could not push across a run.
 
GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•SLU starter Chloe Wendling worked out of a first-inning bases-loaded jam with no damage, and she stranded two more Dayton runners in the fourth. Wendling struck out five and walked only two while going the distance.
•Kaniecki doubled and singled.
•Kendall Johnson had a single.
 
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Billikens loaded the bases in the first on two walks and a hit batter, and Kaniecki delivered a two-run single with two outs.
•SLU made it 3-0 in the fourth on Kristi Stevenson's RBI double.
•Dayton tallied twice in the top of the fifth to make it a one-run game.
•The Billikens answered with a run in their half of the fifth on Johnson's groundout.
•Dayton had the tying runs on base in the sixth and seventh innings, but Hochman kept the Flyers off the board.
 
GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•In addition to her work in the sixth and seventh innings, Hochman stranded the bases loaded in the third and left two runners on in the fourth. She allowed only one earned run and fanned four in collecting her fifth victory of the season.
•Gabbie Kowalik reached base four times on a double, a single, an intentional walk and a hit by pitch.
•Jocelyn Abbott collected a single.

The Billikens and Flyers conclude their three-game series Saturday at noon.
