THE BASICS
•Saint Louis broke a 6-6 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for an 8-7 victory over Saint Joseph's and a split of Saturday's Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader at SJU Softball Field.
•Saint Joseph's won the opener 9-3.
•The Billikens are 15-17 overall and 7-3 in the A-10. The Hawks are 13-16, 9-4.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Gabbie Kowalik collected an RBI while reaching on an error in the third inning, and SLU led 1-0.
•Saint Joseph's answered with a run in its half of the third.
•Kowalik's two-out RBI double in the fifth put the Billikens back on top.
•
Cami Newbanks recorded an RBI single in the sixth to increase the lead to 3-1.
•The Hawks erupted for eight runs in their half of the sixth.

Kristi Stevenson doubled, singled and stole two bases.
•
Chloe Wendling allowed just one earned run.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Billikens raced to a 4-0 lead in the first. Kowalik started the scoring with her team-leading seventh home run, a solo shot, and with two away,
Jane Kaniecki singled in two runs and
Jocelyn Abbott notched an RBI single.
•In the second,
Allie Herron drove in a run while reaching on an error.
•Saint Joseph's made it 5-3 with a run in the second and two in the third.
•Newbanks' sixth-inning two-out RBI single put Saint Louis on top 6-3.
•Saint Joseph's pulled even with three tallies in its half of the sixth.
•SLU responded by scoring twice in the seventh.
Kendall Johnson delivered an RBI single, and the second run scored on a two-out error.
•Saint Joseph's plated a run in the bottom of the seventh, but Wendling – who relieved starter
Taylor Hochman to begin the inning – stranded the tying run at third base.

GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Kowalik added a single for a two-hit game and stole three bases.
•Johnson – who registered her first career triple – Kaniecki, Abbott and
Sadie Wise also had two hits.
•Herron smacked a double.
•Wendling picked up her fourth career save.
•Hochman posted a career-high seven strikeouts.
