THE BASICS
•No. 4 seed Saint Louis rallied to tie the game in the top of the sixth inning, but No. 1 seed George Washington scored twice in its half of the sixth and held on for a 4-2 victory in an Atlantic 10 Conference Softball Championship second-round game Thursday afternoon.
•Up next for SLU (22-28) is an elimination game vs. No. 5 seed Dayton (19-23) Thursday at 4 p.m. Central. The Billikens defeated the Flyers 7-3 in Wednesday's first round.
•George Washington (34-13) plays Friday vs. the winner of the game matching No. 2 seed Fordham and No. 3 seed Saint Joseph's.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•George Washington took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but Saint Louis starter Chloe Wendling kept the damage to a minimum by stranding two runners.
•The Colonials threatened again in the fourth, placing runners at first and third with one away only to see Wendling work out of the jam with no runs allowed.
•The Billikens' sixth-inning uprising began when Gabbie Kowalik reached on an error leading off. Sadie Wise followed with an RBI double, and with one out, Allie Herron smacked an RBI single that plated Wise with the tying run.
•However, GW put together four singles – two of which were infield hits – and pushed across two runs in the bottom of the frame.
•Kendall Johnson led off the seventh with a double but was stranded.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Wise's RBI was the 173rd of her career, tying Allie Macfarlane for the Saint Louis record. It is Wise's ninth Billiken career mark.
•Cami Newbanks recorded a single.
•Kowalik registered her 20th stolen base of the season.
