Monday, June 20, 2022

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Kristi Stevenson of the Saint Louis University softball team is one of 14 student-athletes to receive a 2022 Atlantic 10 Conference Postgraduate Scholarship. The prestigious $5,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating student-athlete from each of the A-10's 14 member institutions.

To be considered for the Postgraduate Scholarship, a student-athlete must have performed with distinction in the classroom and in competition throughout his or her career while also demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community. The selection process involves the league's athletic directors, senior woman administrators and faculty athletic representatives.

"We are proud to grant 14 awards to such a worthy, outstanding class of student-athletes," A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade said. "These student-athletes have been exceptional in their sports and leaders among their peers and have demonstrated academic prowess throughout their careers. We are thankful to have been a part of their undergraduate success and excited to be able to assist with their postgraduate educational expenses."

Stevenson earned an MBA as well as a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting at Saint Louis. She produced a breakout season in 2022 that resulted in her selection to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic All-Region third team, posting career highs in batting average (.327), hits (53), doubles (14, tied for the team lead), RBI (16), slugging percentage (.463), walks (21), runs (32), on-base percentage (.423) and stolen bases (10).

The third baseman led the conference in assists (120) and ranked among the top 10 in doubles, hits, runs, total bases and hit-by-pitch, leading to her selection to the All-Conference first team and A-10 All-Academic team. Stevenson's 14 doubles tied for fifth place on the Billikens' all-time single-season list, and her 324 career assists rank eighth all-time at SLU.

Stevenson graduated summa cum laude while earning distinction as a four-time member of the Dean's List and the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. She also has garnered recognition as an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete each season.

Stevenson is enrolled in the Saint Louis University School of Law.
