MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Saint Louis scored a season-high four goals, which it received from four different players, as the Billikens defeated Maryville 4-0 Sunday afternoon in nonconference field hockey action at SportPort International.
SLU (2-11) won its second match of the season. Maryville falls to 4-5 on the year.
Brooke Mason opened the scoring late in the first quarter for the eventual game-winner. Grace Golembiewski assisted. It was Mason's third goal of the year.
Ava Bleier registered her first-career goal with a strike in the 38th minute. Olivia Smith earned the assist.
In the 53rd minute, Abby Vidas buried a rebound from a Mason shot to make it 3-0 SLU. Demi Sahuleka provided the fourth and final goal for SLU when she buried a penalty stroke at the 57:48 mark.
The Billikens outshot the Saints 21-4 and had an 8-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Kendyl Underwood made four saves for her second career shutout.
The Billikens are back in action Friday, Oct. 20, in the home finale against Lock Haven. Game time at SportPort International is 4 p.m.
